Quality Radon Testing and Mitigation Services

Every radon system the experts at Soos Radon & Electric do is unique based upon the home itself. Some systems are straightforward and basic but in some cases, the homes that have had numerous additions or are very old can involve a system set up that is more complicated and customized to the home itself. This is why every estimate is quoted out individually. We have a series of questions we go through with everyone who calls us to determine if the estimate can be quoted over the phone or if we need to visit that property in person. Prices vary based upon conditions and certain factors, such as different crawl spaces, safety, etc.

All homes are fixable, over the years we have seen just about everything from high water tables to homes with an excessive amount of square footage to those that were built in the late 1800s and have stone foundations, even homes that have multiple additions. We have been forced to become a leader in the industry for fixing the homes that are very unique. There is at least one but in most cases two radon mitigation specialists on every job site. This is an important detail, many people think that what we do is so simple but it really does require someone with knowledge of positive and negative airflow patterns. It is very possible to make a radon problem worse by installing the system incorrectly. Call us and we can take credit card payments over the phone or send a payment link for yourself test!

Different Types of Radon Testing Available With Us

We offer three different options for testing.

For home sale purposes, the cost of a test is $175. This includes a setup and pickup of the radon test. We offer two different kind of tests for this purpose.
  • A charcoal canister test kit can be set up with the option for either a pickup by a technician or a mail back envelope the customer can mail back at their own convenience. The test has to be open for a minimum of 48 hours and maximum exposure of 4 days. If the test is closed early or late, it will be invalid. The turnaround time for a mail back test is 3 to 5 days after the canister has been put in the mail is when you can expect the results.
  • We also have the option of a downloadable E-Perm test canister. This test can be set up for as little as 48 hours to as long as 30 days (extra charges applicable for longer then one week exposure). The turnaround time for these results is the same day as pickup. The beauty of this option is that the test results can be downloaded immediately, so there is no wait time. We use this option a lot when the timing of the closing is tight. There is no additional fee if this test is required for a mitigation job.

We also offer a self test option for $65. This option is not available for customers who are under contract to sell the home. However, for a customer who is looking to simply test for their own knowledge, we encourage this an option. We would simply take your credit card at the time of purchase and mail you a charcoal canister with the instructions and the prepaid envelope for mail back to the lab. When the results are in we will email you the results. This is a good option for your monitoring which the DEP recommends that a test should be run every two years if you don't have a radon system present in the home. The reason for this is because radon levels stack on themselves over time. The rate at which radon increases is very slow but it does go up so if you have lived in your house for many years it is recommended to test again. Feel free to call our office; we will be happy to coach you through this process.

Learn More About Our Radon Inspection Services

Soos Radon has been a trusted source for radon inspections for many years. When a competitor goes out of business it is sometimes necessary to have the mitigation system certified by a licensed company for the purpose of township inspections. We are able to do this for customers finding themselves in this bind. We may sometimes recommend changes to the system, but we can usually look at the system and determine it is to code and sign off on it' so the permit can be closed out.

We also offer a service called the service cleaning test. This service is recommended for systems or fans that are less then ten years old. Sometimes there can be debris sucked up into the fan. In these cases, we open up the fan and suction out the sub slab pipes and re-balance the fan and put it back together. This service is inclusive of a post test after the service is complete to assure that the system is still functioning properly. Sometimes it is noticed at the time of service that other services may be required and a recommendation can be made for those items.

Warranties and Guarantees on Our Radon Work

All radon systems installed by Soos Radon & Electric Inc are under guarantee and warranty for a period of 3 years from the date of installation. That guarantee and warranty are transferable with the sale of the property without having to transfer this information over after closing.

Charcoal canister tests are $175. Self-tests are $65 - you can mail us the check for this. Click here to learn about the various steps involved in a charcoal canister test.
